I am a Clinical Psychologist who offers assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic services. I offer short and long term therapy for individual adults as well as couples. I tend to work in a psychodynamic modality but can also use CBT and I am trained in EMDR – a specific form of therapy to help people process trauma.

As a psychologist I provide a client with a safe and empathic space where we can work together to relieve distress and restore hope. Often people get stuck when they struggle to process painful emotions or past trauma. At times the stressors of daily living can become too much and feel overwhelming. Psychotherapy can facilitate personal growth and healing by creating insight into oneself and also by increasing awareness of the dynamics of one’s interpersonal relationships. The therapeutic relationship allows a person to explore and experience new ways of feeling, being and interacting. This allows change to happen by opening up choices for new ways of living and functioning.

Who seeks treatment from a psychologist?
Different people choose to go and see a psychologist for a variety of reasons:

  • Some need treatment for clinical conditions such as anxiety or depression
  • Some because they have experienced trauma or loss, which they need to process
  • A significant relationship can become stuck in a cycle of conflict and frustration when communication breaks down
  • Some people find the pressures of daily living has become too much and feels overwhelming
  • And others enter therapy because they seek to understand themselves better and want to lead a more meaningful life
